Kaltura is a video creation and hosting service like YouTube, but it is accessed from within in Canvas, making it more private.
Many instructors use Kaltura to create and share videos in their courses.
As a student, you can also use Kaltura to record and add video to coursework, such as assignments and discussions.

We recommend using your computer, not a mobile device, to record and upload video. If you are on a mobile device, log into Canvas with the browser app, not the Canvas mobile app, to use Kaltura.

Viewing Videos

You can view Kaltura videos by simply clicking the thumbnail image/link in your course. (You may need to click the thumbnail twice, once to load the video and then to play it.) No matter your viewing device, Kaltura will optimize the streaming of the content based on your internet connection. The player controls are straightforward and similar to other video players. Depending on the recording, your video may have advanced features like chapters or picture-in-picture. Please read about the Kaltura Player and its features to learn more.

Note: You may need to enable 3rd party cookies and cross-site tracking in your browser or mobile device in order to view videos or use Kaltura (i.e., if you see an "Access Denied" message). Those settings are required since Kaltura and Canvas need to share data such as your name and username.

Select "My Media" from the global navigation menu. (You may need to allow permission.)
